In order to de-congest traffic jams and to create safe and secure facility for the pedestrians at Peeragarhi junction on the Outer Ring Road, the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi Government will construct a signal free corridor from Jwala Heri Market Red light to Jwalapuri Red light on Rohtak Road/ NH-10. The proposal for the Inter Transit Corridor Development / Connectivity Plan for the network of ‘Rohtak Road or NH-10 has been passed by the Unified Traffic and Transportation infrastructure (Planning and Engineering) on Monday.
Under this mega corridor development plan, the PWD will construct a Flyover at Rohtak Road (near Laxmi Narayana Mandir Road) and two underpass U-turns at Rohtak Road for the right turning traffic towards Chaudhary Balbir Singh Marg.
The project was approved by the UTTIPEC in its 60th meeting of governing Body under the Chairmanship of Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal on Monday.
Besides, as part of this project, the PWD has also proposed grade improvement at Peeragarhi Chowk Junction and the Right of Way (ROB) along Outer Ring Road towards Mangolpuri to Mundka and Mundka to Janakpuri will be extended.
“This proposal will provide pedestrian safety and a flyover will be constructed between Peeragarhi and Ugyog Vihar Metro Station. Further, a section of phase IV metro project is also coming on this route for which the PWD will also provide facility and improve pedestrian access along proposed new Metro Station (Phase-IV),” said a PWD official.
The official further added that the the project corridor is a part of NH-10 and starts from Jwala Heri Market Red light to Jwalapuri Red light and connects various residential areas such as Punjabi Bagh, Mundka, Paschim Vihar, Nangloi and other important areas.
“Peeragarhi is a major intersection on Outer Ring Road and the main aim behind this project is to incorporate the provisions for adequate space for safe movement of pedestrian in this stretch,” added the official.
