RaGa, Amit Shah to lock horns today

Monday, 02 December 2019 | Mrituanjay Kumar | Ranchi

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah and former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi are set to address rallies in Jharkhand on Monday and likely to heat up the political battle in the State.

Addressing a Press meet at the party headquarter in the State Capital on Sunday, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) Spokesperson, Alok Kumar Dubey said that Gandhi will visit the State on Monday and will address a public meeting in Simdega in support of the party candidate. “Rahul Gandhi has special affection with the Water, Forest and Land of the State. Farmers’ plight is in his priority, and this is why our party has laid stress on loan waiver in its manifesto. Gandhi’s visit to the State will energise the workers of the party,” said Dubey.

BJP national president Amit Shah will address an election rally at 11:00 am at Chakradharpur and 12:00 pm in Behragoda in support of his party candidates on Monday. It will be his third visit to Jharkhand during this year’s State Assembly elections here.

Apart from this, senior leaders of both the parties will visit the State in coming days. JPCC on Sunday announced that INC General Secretary, Mukul Wasnik, senior  party leader, Jyotirditya Scindhiya and the party Spokesperson, Manis Tiwary will visit the State very soon.

On the other hand, Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Keshav Maurya

and BJP Delhi State Chief, Manoj Tiwari will address rallies here on Tuesday. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also address several election meetings in Jharkhand. Adityanath will address a public meeting at Govindpur, Jugasalai at 11:30 on Wednesday. Apart from this, he will hold a meeting on the day at Bagbeda Potka at 12:30 am and at Ichagarh at 2:00 pm.

Gandhi, who had raised slogans of ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ during his last public appearance in Simdega on May 2 and projected the party as custodian of tribal rights, has stayed away from the political happenings in Jharkhand since.

Earlier, in the month of March, he addressed a rally in Ranchi’s Morhabadi Ground and won public applause for shaking a leg on tribal beats.
