With just three days left of the 10- day long festival, Durga Puja celebrations are at an all time high across the State. However, the festive spirits of the residents of Jharkhand might get dampened with chances of rainfall activity in the afternoon and late evening hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi from October 6 for the next four to five days there are chances of an increase in the rainfall activity across Jharkhand.
“From October 6 to October 8, there are chances of some rainfall activity mostly in the north eastern and south eastern parts of the State. Parts of central Jharkhand will also witness rain of light to moderate category accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning especially in the afternoon and late evening hours,” said Senior Scientist, MET Observatory Centre—Ranchi, Dr RS Sharma.
As per the weathermen, the State capital is also likely to receive one or two spells of rain of about 15 to 20 minutes of near moderate category with thunder and lightning from October 5 to October 8 mostly in second half of the day. The chances of any heavy downpour are unlikely.
“There is an upper air circulation active over Jharkhand because of which north eastern parts of the State including Santhal Pargana region have received good amount of rain and thunderstorms. For the next few days, the effects of this circulation will be seen over Jharkhand with many places receiving spells of rain,” added Sharma.
According to Sharma, this is the monsoon withdrawal phase and in this phase there are high chances of lightning striking with thunderstorms.
“During this time, residents need to be extra cautious as there are chances of lightning striking. People are advised to stay in safe and covered places during this time,” said the scientist.
