Under the Regional Air Connectivity Scheme (RCS) called UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagarik) the Air India’s first flight 9I 720 to Jharsuguda from Raipur was given water cannon salute on Wednesday at Swami Vivekananda Airport here.
As per earlier announced schedules of new flights, the Alliance Air has begun its first service to to/from Jharsuguda to Raipur. Earlier, similar services were started for Kolkata, Ranchi and Bhubaneswar.
In the maiden flight the number of passengers for Jharsuguda was 35 while from Jharsuguda to Raipur it was 24. Now, with this flight, Raipur has been linked with 12 cities with non-stop flights.
As per the announced flight schedule 91 720 will fly from Ranchi to Raipur on daily basis at 1.50 PM/3.15 PM; from Raipur to Jharsuguda at 3.45 PM/4.50 PM daily (New flight) and 91 728 Jharsuguda/Raipur new flight at 5.15PM/7.55PM.
Similarly, flight 91728 Raipur/Ranchi new flight timing will operate daily at 6.30 PM/7.55 PM.
Meanwhile, Airport authorities intimated that existing Flight 6E365 (Raipur –Chennai) has been renamed as Raipur-Chennai-Thiruvananthpuram from Tuesday. It is one-way connection to Thiruvananthpuram while the changed flight No is 6E605 from Raipur to Thiruvananthpuram. It will be same aircraft via 30 minutes stoppage at Chennai.
The UDAN scheme was launched by the NDA government to provide connectivity to un-served and under-served airports of the country through revival of existing air-strips and airports under the new Civil Aviation Policy. The passenger fares for these flightsd have been capped at Rs 2500 per hour of flying for around 500 kilometres. It has been rolled out on January 2017 for a period of 10 years.
