Rajasthan will adopt Chhattisgarh’s innovative model cowshed scheme rechristening it as 'Nandi Gaushala'.

This was stated by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who along with his cabinet ministers and Chhattisgarh counterpart Bhupesh Baghel, visited a model cowshed in village Bancharauda on Friday.

Gehlot and his ministers inspected the cowshed built under the shade of Mahua tree. They also observed the women of self-help groups making beauty products, material used in religious rituals, organic fertilizer, herbal medicines, and manufacturing 'dona-pattal', and praised them in their endeavor to become financially independent.

During the visit to this model cowshed run under Suraaji Gaon Yojana in Arang block of Raipur district, Gehlod was accompanied by Rajasthan's Agriculture Minister Lalchand Katariya, Minister Gopall Badahiya and MLA Rohit Vohra.

Gehlot praised Chhattisgarh Government's Narva Garua Ghurva Bari scheme for the innovative works being done under the scheme, on initiative of Chief Minister Baghel.

He also said that it was Mahatma Gandhi's dream to promote cottage industries so as to make people of rural areas self-dependent and financially empowered.

“After visiting Chhattisgarh and observing the works being done here, I can say that Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Baghel is turning the dreams of Gandhi ji into reality,” said Gehlot.

On the occasion, Minister In-charge Ravindra Choubey, Urban Administration and Labour Minister Dr Shive Kumar Dahariya, Abhanpur MLA and Ex-Minister Dhanendra Sahu, Dharsiva MLA Anita Yogendra Sharma, Raipur Jila Panchayat  president Sharda Devi Verma, public representatives and a large number of villagers were also present.

In his address to the programme held in village Bancharoda, Gehlot said that Chhattisgarh government has taken an innovative step by developing cowsheds. This initiative would not only give shelter to stray animals and provide drinking-water, medical facility and fodder but also prevent road accidents that occur because of stray cattles. Cow dung is being used by women of the village to create products that are helping them to become self-employed and financially independent.

Baghel said that Chhattisgarh’s economy    mostly depends on agricultural sector and hence the state government is aiming to provide better means of livelihood to farmers and make them financially independent through Narva, Garua, Ghurva, Bari.

The organic fertilizer    produced in cowsheds across the state will be utilized in agricultural activities, he said.

Narva yojana will help in water conservation and      development of irrigation facility. He said that today Chief Minister of Rajashthan visited Bancharoda to observe the works here, in future      representatives from across the country and abroad will visit Chhattisgarh. Suraaji Gaon scheme is being lauded across the world.
