Rally in K’mal demands edu, health facilities

The Jeebika Surakhya Manch’s awareness rally which began on November 5 from Khajuripada to Phulbani concluded here on Thursday demanding proper education and health facilities in Kandhamal district.

The Manch alleged that despite the Right To Education Act in force, many children are deprived of proper education facilities. It demanded school management committees, separate room for separate class in every school and appointment of teachers etc.

In the health sector, the body demanded bike ambulance services in remote areas, enhancing Gaon Kalyan Samities, two Swasthya Sathis with Swasthya kit for each village and Maa Gruha in every Public Health Centres (PHCs).

As per reports, out of 215 doctor posts, 100 are lying vacant in Kandhamal district and there are no doctors in 14 PHCs out of 36. Among others, Manch president Durbasa Sethy and Odisha Sramajibi Manch convenor Anjan Pradhan were present.
