Ramakant Yadav, a four-time member of parliament from Azamgarh and a known turncoat is venturing for another shift from Congress to Samajwadi Party.
Yadav is likely to rejoin SP in the presence of party chief and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on October 6.
Ramakant Yadav had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Azamgarh on Bharatiya Janata Party ticket against SP patriarch and then party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Following denial of BJP ticket in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, he quit the party and joined Congress and contested from Bhadohi Lok Sabha constituency but faced a humiliating defeat, polling only 25,000 votes.
The 62-year-old politician had ditched Samajwadi Party and joined Bahujan Samaj Party in 2004. Later, he left BSP and joined BJP in 2008.
Ramakant Yadav confirmed that he would join his old party on October 6.
He assigned no reason for rejoining the SP saying, “Kuchh khas nahi (nothing important). Ghar vapas aa raha hun (I am returning to my home).”.
The Congress has already expelled him from the party for six years.
