State Congress on Friday sharply reacted to former chief minister Raman Singh’s remark against Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel over the ruling party’s Lok Sabha performance in the state.
The party reminded Raman that only five months ago the people of Chhattisgarh had discarded them and they had suffered a humiliating defeat in the assembly polls.
In a statement Congress’s state general secretary and chairman communication wing Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said instead of blaming the leadership of Baghel for the Congress’s debacle in the Lok Sabha polls, Raman should introspect on his own five months old performance.
Instead of showing arrogance over his party’s Lok Sabha poll performance, Raman should contemplate why people of Chhattisgarh had rejected him and his government only five months ago.
“There is a wide difference in the working style of Baghelji and Raman Singh. The intention of Baghel government is to provide benefit to the majority of the people, the poor and the farmers and that’s why it waived off the farm loan of defaulting farmers within three hours of Bhagelji taking oath as a chief minister”, he said. “On the other hand the priority of Raman government was corruption and that was why they suffered a humiliating poll debacle in the assembly polls of 2018”, he added.
