Recruitment on 2500 posts stalled

Tuesday, 31 December 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

In a setback to thousands of unemployed waiting for jobs, the recruitment process of more than 2500 posts in various departments of Uttarakhand has been halted. On the orders of the state administration, the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (USSSC) was set to release recruitment advertisement for 2500 group D posts in various departments of the state.

However the State Government’s recent notification on the providing the five per cent reservation to children residing in state owned orphanages of Uttarakhand acted as impediment in the recruitment process.

The government order clearly says that the benefit of five per cent reservation to the orphans should be provided with immediate effect.  Apart from this, the issue of roaster in reservation in government jobs is also not clear. The USSSC has now sent a letter to the department of personnel to direct it on providing the benefit of reservation to orphans.

When contacted, the additional secretary, S S Waldia said that his office is yet to receive the letter from USSSC seeking direction on reservation. He however added that clarification on the query of reservation roaster has been given to the commission.

The unemployed in the state are eagerly waiting for the start of recruitment process USSSC and Uttarakhand Public Service Commission on thousands of vacant posts. It is pertinent to mention here that Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat is keen to expedite the process of recruitment on the vacant posts in different departments. His government is under attack from opposition Congress party for failing to provide jobs to the unemployed.

In a recent meeting, CM clearly said that the secretaries concerned will be responsible for departmental recruitment and strict action will be taken against the officials concerned in case of any unnecessary delay in the recruitment.

On a stern note, he said that the status report of recruitment should be submitted to his personnel secretary every ten days.
