Terming the decision of the Narendra Modi government to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution as historic, Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said this was a red letter day for India as this decision would usher in a period of hope and prosperity in the lives of the people of the Valley.
“This is a historic decision. The mistake committed 70 years back has been rectified now. With the repeal of Article 370, the Modi government has taken the first step towards uniting Kashmir in true sense with India,” Sharma said in a written statement issued here on Monday.
Reacting to the decision of the Union government to repeal Article 370, he said by making Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh separate Union Territories would help in making India strong.
“This has been possible only because of the strong political will shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah,” Sharma said and added that uniform law would help better integration among Kashmiri youth with youth of other parts of the country.
