Repeal of Art 370 a step towards Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat: CM

Saturday, 17 August 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

Hailing the decision of Narendra Modi government to repeal Article 370 giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said it was the step towards ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

Yogi said this while greeting people after unfurling the tri-colour at Vidhan Bhawan on the 73rd anniversary of India’s independence.

“On this day, let us all pledge to make India the best economy in the world. Also, we should ensure that the benefits of government’s schemes reach everyone and the standard of living of the person on the last rung of society improves,” Yogi said.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government had started a new work culture in the last five years. He said the image of the country had improved all over the world and India was marching ahead and had become the 5th largest economy in the world.

Yogi said the Prime Minister had set a target of making India a $ 5 trillion economy and Uttar Pradesh would play a big role in achieving this goal.

“UP has set a target to become a $ 1 trillion economy and is working hard to achieve this target,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the state had received proposals for investment of more than Rs 5 lakh crore in the 2018 Investors’ Summit. “Uttar Pradesh is a state of immense potential and farmers have proved this by producing record foodgrains during the last two years.  In these years, the government has succeeded in paying more than Rs 72,000 crore to sugarcane farmers.  This amount was pending for 5-7 years,” he said.

Yogi said that many events were held in Uttar Pradesh which played a role in improving the state’s reputation. He said the successful organisation of Prayagraj Kumbh had proved that if there was proper guidance and right leadership, then even the biggest of resolutions of the state could be fulfilled.

“The Prime Minister has set a target of doubling farmers’ income by 2022. Effective steps have been taken at every level, from seed to market, in the interests of the farmers. So far more than 1.56 crore farmers have benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.  At the same time, we have succeeded in providing electricity connections to more than 1.08 crore families in the state. These families had never been able to get electricity after independence,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that on the occasion of 73rd anniversary of Independence Day and festival of Raksha Bandhan, the state government was going to implement the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana soon, furthering the success of Prime Minister’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme.

The Chief Minister said that the state had established a new record by planting more than 22 crore saplings on August 9. He said this programme of the state government had received appreciation not only from the nation but also from around the world.
