UP Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi demanded immediate closure of Islamic religious schools known as `madarsas’ run by Wahabi sect of Sunni Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir.
In the backdrop of the fidayeen attack on a CRPF convoy in Kashmir on Thursday, Rizvi said that Wahabi madarsas were a huge threat to internal security and unity and integrity of the country as they were breeding ground of extremism and fanaticism.
Condemning the fidayeen attack on the CRPF convoy that left 42 jawans dead, Rizvi said that the extremists were anti-nationals and their sole aim was to spread hatred and bloodletting in the country.
The Shia Waqf Board chairman said that many Wahabi madarsas were operating by concealing their identity. "The nation can never win the war against jihad spearheaded by Wahabis unless their madarsas are banned immediately," he said.
