The 32nd annual day of Rock Pebbles, an English literary journal, was held here recently.
Prof BasudevChakrabarti of Kalyani University (West Bengal), Prof JS Anand of Punjab University and Prof Kalidas Mishra of Sambalpur University joined the programme.
Dr Anwer Ghani, an Iraqi poet and physician received Rock Pebbles International Literary Award for 2019.
In response to the felicitations, he said that a poet lives within every human being.
“If we cultivate creativity, a cultured society may come up. Good music and good poetry have immense impact on human beings. We can remain healthy in body and mind, if we read good poetry,” he said.
Dr Ghani also told that though he is an Iraqi, he has immense love for India.
The other poets receiving Rock Pebbles Award are PankajamKottarath of Chennai and Biraja Bal of Jajpur. Five anthologies, namely Verses of Silence by Tejaswini Patil, Rivulet of Emotions by Lopamudra Mishra, Fighting the Flames by
Anand and The Locked Episode by Pratiksha Karan were released along with March issue of the journal.
Noted litterateur, poet and Prof Kusha Pradhan of Vyasanagar College, Jajpur Road presided over the meeting. Sabita Poddar of AIR, Kolkata, Anamita Sen, Padmaja Iyenger, Swapna Behera and Mir Samsul Haque joined a poetry session. Journal editor Dr Udayanath Majhig offered vote of thanks.
