nIn a tragic accident, a 14-year-old boy and his 18-year-old brother-in-law who were roadside vendors, were crushed to death by a speeding Range Rover (Discovery) in Gurugram's Golf Course Extension road on Sunday night.

Both of them died on the spot while the accused car driver fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind.  Other occupants of the car survived due to airbags. The police, however, are struggling to identify the accused as the SUV had no number plate.

According to the police, the deceased were identified as Mordhwaj (18) and Anil Yadav (14) of Budaun district in Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred around 10.35 pm, in front of Unitech Business Park near Vatika Chowk, where the victims ran a golgappa stall and lived in Tikri village. The victims were returning back to their home when the incident occurred.

"The victims were returning back to their home when a speeding Range Rover, hit them from behind and killed them instantly. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene leaving his vehicle behind," said Subhash Boken, the spokesperson of Gurugram Police.

The collision was so tremendous that both of them fell in different directions  and they were tossed 60 feets away. Anil was found hanging on the fencing wire of the nearby park, while Mordhwaj fell near the roadside drain and died.

Devendra, brother of Mordhwaj, who was coming from behind, informed the police. Devendra stated in his police complaint that "The accused broke the number plate of their car and took it with them," he said.

Soon after the incident, Devendra took them to the Civil Hospital Sector-10 via ambulance where doctors declared both of them dead after prelimanry examination.

On Monday, the police registered a case of rash and negligent driving causing death and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination and later handed them over to the family.

Dr Pawan Chaudhary and Dr Deepak Mathur who performed the post-mortem of both the bodies, observed, "The collision was so severe that both their internal organs were badly damaged. There were multiple fractures from the waist to the lower back".

"An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sector 65 police station. The vehicle has been seized and the investigation is on to nab the culprit," Boken said.
