Rs 11L allowance money looted in Sundargarh

Wednesday, 16 October 2019 | PNS | ROURKELA

Around half a dozen armed miscreants looted cash of over Rs  11 lakh from Government staffs near the Kuarmunda block office in Sundargarh district on Tuesday.

Reportedly, the staffs carrying the monetary allowance meant for underprivileged people were on their way to Kuarmunda from Rourkela by a Bolero vehicle in the morning.

Midway, motorbike-borne miscreants waylaid the vehicle near the Kuarmunda block office and pelted stones at it. Later, the hooligans attacked the security guard present in the vehicle and also broke his gun.

The miscreants also fired blanks to terrorise the occupants of the vehicle before decamping with the cash. Later, the injured security guard was rushed to the Kuarmunda Community health center (CHC).

On receiving information, Kuarmunda police reached the spot and began an investigation.

The incident has triggered panic among the locals in the area as no such incident had taken place earlier.
