At present, an amount of Rs 8,680 crore of SBI as food limit is outstanding on the State Marketing Federation, which has to be returned. This amount has to be given by the State Civil Supplies Corporation to the Marketing Federation.
This includes the interest amount of Rs 384 crore of the last financial year. The Federation should improve its financial and credit management and food department should take immediate action to return the amount.
Cooperative Minister Govind Singh instructed in the meeting of Marketing Federation held at Mantralaya today. The Co-op Minister said that the concerned departments should prepare a Pressie and place it before the coordination committee for decision.
The government has taken a decision to provide farmers the fertilizer according to their needs. They will be asked through SMS about the type of fertilizer including and company’s name of their own choice. The same fertilizer will be made available to them through the cooperative societies. The Co-op Minister said that this year urea is in more demand. So the farmers should get its ample quantity.
Govind Singh also instructed to improve the procurement related transportation system. It was informed that the Federation got Rs 14 crore during the last years, while suffered a loss of Rs 45 crore in transportation. It was due to the difference in the transportation rates of the Central and State Government. This year the Central government decided the transportation rate of Rs 32 per quintal while the Marketing Federation got the transportation done on the average rate of Rs 35 per quintal.
The Minister suggested that in place of giving transportation work to one contractor, it is better to give it to a number of contractors so that better work can be done at low cost. Last year during the wheat procurement, the wheat of Seodha centre was sent to the warehouse of Gohad, 40 km away from the place, while its should have been sent to the place of lesser distance of 18 km Lahaar. This should not be done as it increases the cost of transportation.
ACS Prabhanshu Kamal, Principal Secretary Cooperative Ajit Kesri, Cooperative Commissioner MK Agrawal, Managing Director State Marketing Federation Swati Meena Nayak and others were present in the meeting.
