Rs1,900 cr for roads, bridges

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government has allocated an outlay of Rs1900 crore for the Roads and Bridges projects for year 2019-20 under which a four lane road, flyover, road widening, street scaping on the most congested Public Works Department (PWD) roads will be constructed. Also, six new Foot over Bridges (FOB) at six stretches infamous for accidents in the national Capital.

Delhi Finance Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday presented the annual budget of Delhi Government said that this year the budget for roads and bridges is 73 per cent more than the allocations compared to the financial year.

An amount of Rs308 crore has been allocated for the street-scaping of six Public Works Department (PWD) stretches in 2019-20.

“I propose an outlay of Rs1,900 crore in budget for the year 2019-20 for implementation of various projects which is 73 percent higher than the revised estimates of roads and bridges projects in 2018-19,” said Manish Sisodia in his budget speech.

Besides this, a number of projects have been proposed in the budget estimates for 2019-20 for strengthening of road infrastructure besides completion of the ongoing projects.

The Government further announced that there are number of such roads whose development is neglected always as no agency takes responsibility, thus the development of roads will be taken under the ‘Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojana’ for which an amount of Rs800 crore has been allocated.

Besides, a four-lane road of 25 Km along bank of Najafgarh drain from Dhansa Regulator to Dwarka Mor will be constructed at a cost of Rs500 crore and Bridges on NH-10 at Rampura, Tri Nagar / Inderlok and Karampura will be widened at a cost of Rs86 crore in the financial year 2019-20.

The finance mi minister further said that the flyovers at Shastri Park intersection and Seelampur whose work has been started will be completed in the next 18 months and Rs303 crore has been sanctioned for the project.

An underpass at Ashram Chowk will come up at a cost of Rs78 crore to decongest the busy intersection and an amount of Rs29.40 crore has been allocated for construction of six FOBs at Metcalf House, Yusuf Sarai, Africa Avenue, Aali  Mod, Mathura Road, Harkesh Nagar, Mathura Road and Oberoi Hotel.
