The website of the Yoga Department of Ranchi University (RU) was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor (VC) Ramesh Kumar Pandey on Monday. CCDC LGSM Shahdeo, Director University Department of Yoga Tulu Sarkar, BB Rai, Manoj Soni and others were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, the VC said that in a short span of time the yoga department has come a long way and students from here are making their mark in education, sports and social health promotion. “It is a matter of great honour for RU that four students from the Yoga department have qualified the NET examination and students from this department have won various awards at the district, state and national level,” he said.
Giving an overview of the website, the VC added that it will have all the relevant information regarding admissions and examinations from the next session. “The yoga department will have an independent campus known as the Institute of Yoga and will be an autonomous body. The department will be made paperless,” he said. The VC also instructed the teachers of the department and the administration to start an international journal on the subject of yoga soon for which RU will also corporate.
The suggested new campus will have state of the art facilities. It will also be research and therapy oriented and will be equipped to conduct international conferences.
The homepage of the website has messages from the RU VC, Pro VC and the registrar. It also states details about the various yoga asanas along with the mission and vision of the department. Details about the faculty members of the department and the courses are also available. It also has a notice board section. Online library and tutorials will also be available on the website. Placement profile of all the students and PDF’s of all books under common creatives will also be uploaded.
“All details about the present as well as the upcoming courses will be available on the website with the syllabus. Presently all notices regarding examinations are available. Qualification of the faculty members, detailed achievements of the students is also provided. Yoga asanas demonstrations by the students will be uploaded through YouTube links soon,” said Coordinator University Department of Yoga Anand Kumar Thakur.
Presently the yoga department has about 200 students. It offers a two- year post graduation course in yoga and a one- year post graduate diploma in Yogic science.
