S’garh workers missing in Jharkhand, Goa

Monday, 07 January 2019 | MAlAY RAY | SUNDARGARH

Two poor men, including a deaf and dumb of Sundargarh district, allegedly are missing in two other States and their helpless family members are running to Sundargarh police to trace them but the police have not yet been able to achieve any breakthrough.

Luthur Topno (39) is a deaf and dumb, a resident of Pamra village under Bargaon police station. Luthur’s family comprises wife and two children and was working as a daily wage labour.

An agent of his village, Gobind Kisan, and another one, Sanjay Lakra of Muchulupada, allegedly had lured Luthur on a plea of handsome salary.

They had allegedly taken Luthur along with other workers to Rajgangpur on December 9 and thereafter had trafficked them to Ramgad in Jharkhand by train from Rajgangpur. After some days, fellow workers had informed Luthur’s wife Maheswari that Luthur had gone missing from the work place.

When Maheswari talked to agent Sanjay about Luthur’s missing, he had assured her that he would trace Luthur and assured to pay Rs1, 500 per month to her till Luthur was traced.  Luthur’s wife brought allegation that agent Sanjay avoided her and not received her call, later. Maheswari along with her two minor sons ran from pillar to post and requested at different places to locate her husband.

Finding no other alternative, she had also met the Sundargarh Collector seeking his intervention.

After an FIR by Maheswari, the Bargaon police had registered a missing case but till date Luthur has not been traced. “Our police officials alongwith agent Sanjay Lakra and brother of missing Luthur, will go to Ramgad shortly to trace Luthur,” said Bargaon police station IIC Suryakanti Das.

Similarly, father of a minor girl, identified as Kartik Tanty (45) of Pandridipa under Town police station, is missing in Goa.

Even as the nephew of Kartik had lodged an FIR in Madgaon GRP station and later wife of Kartik had also given a petition before Sundargarh SP about the missing of her husband, but till date the whereabouts of Kartik is unknown.

“I had talked to Madgaon police station; and the police station had also circulated photos of Kartik Tanty in nearby police station but we have not yet got any information on Kartik,” said Additional Sundargarh SP Sabita Panda.
