The Sambalpur District Bar Association has decided to partially suspend their agitation and boycott over the issue of establishment a High Court Bench in western Odisha and allow the courts to function from March 25 for urgent matters only. The decision was taken in a general body meeting of the association on Wednesday.
The general body meeting chaired by association president Bijendriya Pradhan also decided to suspend the relay hunger fast from March 14. As per the resolution, the restriction on functioning of the District Sub-Registrar, Sambalpur and Executive courts would be lifted from March 18, but “no regular hearing shall be taken up except urgent matters”.
“Restriction on functioning of civil courts is hereby lifted from March 25, but advocates shall observe cease-work. However, only urgent matters like bail, injunction and filing of cases and written statements are to be allowed,” the resolution said.
