The ‘Saral Kendra’ of Gurugram has become the first Centre in the State to have cashless fee payment facility. With this, the applicants will be able to make payments through multiple digital modes like Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and Aadhaar Pay towards services such as acquiring, renewing a driving license as well as getting vehicles registered in Gurugram.

The facility aims to enhance convenience for residents as it eliminates the need for transacting in cash and significantly saves time. ICICI Bank has partnered with Gurugram District Administration in providing this facility. Initially, the cashless payment solution will be provided for motor licensing and registration services.

“The citizens of Gurugram are currently paying for the issuance of the learner and permanent driving license as well as a renewal of driving licence through cash and on a daily basis. This new facility will enable residents to make quick cashless payments for services offered by the government through Saral Kendra Gurugram,” a senior district administration official, said.

In a bid to facilitate seamless payment of the fee, each cash counter has been given access to accept digital payments through a dynamic QR code for UPI and Aadhaar Pay. The solution also provides a counter-wise reporting and central monitoring system for all transactions on a real-time basis.

“Residents can pay their fees without any hassle. Cashier enters the amount in the system along with the customer application/file number. The system generates the dynamic QR code on the screen. Customers can simply open any UPI based application, scan the QR code and validate the UPI PIN to complete the payment,” he said.

In another step, the cashier enters the Aadhaar number of the customer and ask him/ her to provide a fingerprint impression on the biometric reader to complete the payment. Amount gets debited from the customer’s linked bank account.

“We are delighted to partner with the District Administration Gurugram to extend us digital banking solutions to its citizens. This service is a testament to our constant efforts at creating products and services that offer a seamless banking experience to our citizens,” an  ICICI Bank official, said.
