The State Government has decided to set up a science park in each of the 30 districts and plans have already been approved for 10 districts.
Science and Technology Minister Ashok Chandra Panda informed this in the State Assembly to a question of Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati and a host of other members.
“Three science parks have already been established at Bhubaneswar in Khordha district, Dhenknal and Bargarh districts and lands have been identified in seven districts and direction has been issued for release of funds for establishment of such park in these districts. The rest 20 districts will get science parks gradually,” said the Minister.
He said Rs 6.5 crore has been allocated for each park.
“The main objective of the science park is to promote science among students and common people,” he said.
The Minister also informed that if more than five acres of land is available in any district, the Government would certainly consider establishing a planetarium there.
