Jyotiraditya Scindia, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader reached Gwalior on Wednesday morning starting his two-day visit to the city, his home town.
Scindia who reached Gwalior by the Shadabdi Express was given a rousing welcome by party leaders and workers at the Railway Station.
The leaders included DCC President Devendra Sharma, Rural President Rakesh Rathore, Ramesh Agarwal, Ashok Sharma, Latif Khan and others. However, no state ministers or MLAs were present as they are in Bhopal attending the assembly session.
Later, speaking to the media persons Scindia said that victory and defeat are a part of political life and that these things do not matter to him in anyway. He added that he has been meeting leaders, workers, especially grass root workers and members of the frontal organizations of the party and taking feedback and suggestions from them for the strengthening of the party.
On the topic of the Smart City Project, Scindia underlined the need for a focused approach to bring Gwalior into the mainstream of development and opined that proper implementation of the project is the need of the hour.
Later on Scindia held a meeting of the officials of the District Administration, Smart City Project and the Police department at the Jai Vilas Palace and held discussions on the Smart City Project.
Those who attended the discussions included District Collector Anurag Chaudhary, Gwalior SP Navneet Bhaseen, Smart City Project CEO Mahip Tejaswi and Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Makin. Scindia asked the officials about the various activities under the project and their current status. He also asked them details of the new projects in the pipeline. Thereafter, Scindia reached the Congress party office and met the party leaders and workers, and told them to put in all efforts to further strengthen the party in the State.
