SEC to keep vigil on horse trading

The State Election Commissioner Chandrasekhar Bhatt said the strict vigil would be observed to prevent horse trading in the elections of the block Pramukhs and the district Panchayat presidents.

He said that the administration has been asked to initiate legal action on such complaints and the FIR can be lodged on the basis of news reports.

The SEC said that the elections of the district panchayat presidents and the block pramukhs would be held after the festival of Deepawali.

He added that the process to fill vacant posts in the Panchayat bodies would start in December.
