In a tragic incident, a 51-year-old security official posted with the Defence Security Corps allegedly shot himself dead inside the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) complex in North Delhi area on Tuesday morning. Police said that they have not recovered any suicide note and further police teams have been formed to find out the reason why he took the extreme step.
The security official has been identified as Hardeep Singh, a native of Punjab. According to a senior police official, a police control room call regarding the incident was received at around 9.58 am on Tuesday morning following which an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) was rushed to the spot.
"The police shifted the victim to Trauma Centre where he was declared brought dead," said the senior police official.
"During initial investigation it was revealed that Singh shot himself on the neck with his service rifle. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. The family members have been informed and they are heading towards the national capital from Punjab," said the police official privy to investigation.
"He was posted in the security of the DRDO complex in Civil Lines. Police are trying to find out the reason why he took the extreme step," said the police official adding that further investigation is underway.
