Gandhi Nagar police has arrested seven gamblers and seized Rs 1 lakh cash from their possession on Monday. The gamblers were nabbed from BDA Colony. Police said that acting on a tip off, a house in BDA Quarters was raided and arrested the seven playing gambling and seized Rs 1.16 lakh cash from their possession.
Police received information that gamblers, with big bets, are gambling and on the receipt of the information, a house in Shahid Bhagat Singh Colony of BDA was raided.
Police said that the in the raid, the gamblers were found gambling. The raid was conducted after receiving information of suspicious activities for the past few days and based on the tip off a raid was conducted and around Rs 1.16 lakh cash were recovered from their possession.
The nabbed gamblers were identified as Mohan Agrawal, Mithun Agrawal, Gyan Singh Bhadria, Mukesh Gupta, Sonu Prajapati, Diwakar Gupta and Navin Agrawal. Police said that few of the nabbed accused do not hold past crime records and are involved in businesses. In the raid, apart from the cash, police have recovered mobile phones and transactions worth lakhs of rupees. The police have registered a case under Gambling Act and started further investigation.
Meanwhile, Shahpura police has nabbed a man transporting liquor illegally from Indra Nagar and seized liquor worth Rs 19,000 on Sunday. There were 320 bottles of country made wine. The man was identified as Rameshwar Dhakad.
The police have registered a case under section 34 of the Excise Act and started further investigation.
