Shah to prepare BJP strategy

Wednesday, 23 January 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

The state BJP is set to make the next Lok sabha contest a fight between Narendra Modi and others and party chief Amit Shah is scheduled to fly down to Lucknow to give final touches to the campaign on January 30.

This will be the beginning of a series of meetings which Shah will chair in Uttar Pradesh. After the Lucknow meeting, the BJP chief will hold meetings in western UP, Bundelkhand and eastern UP on February 2, 6 and 8 respectively. "The focus of these meetings will be to strengthen the party at booth level as well as to convert the electoral battle in UP as a fight between between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others," state BJP general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pahak said.

“It is prudent to project Modi’s image as we are contesting elections on the achievements of the NDA government at the Centre. Moreover, the war cry of the Opposition is to remove Modi. Even in UP, the BSP-SP alliance harps on removing Modi. So, the job is cut out for us. It is Modi versus others and it suits us,” Pathak said.

The BJP pointed out that in all surveys carried out so far, Modi was miles ahead of his rivals as the Prime Ministerial candidate. "It is clear that Modi is the first choice of the public and we will only side by that choice," he said. About the SP-BSP truck, Pathak said that the BJP had prepared a strategy to counter the Opposition and its alliance.

"We are well ahead in preparation for the Lok Sabha polls as compared to other parties. Instructions have been issued to complete all cluster-level conferences of the party between February 10 and 19," he said.

Pathak added that the BJP was fully confident to win 74 seats in UP in the imminent Lok Sabha polls on the agenda of development and works done by the Modi and Yogi governments at the Centre and in UP.

The BJP leader said that the party cadre was confident and the leadership had made them capable to counter any misinformation campaigning by Opposition parties.
