Shivraj: Its’ a victory of nationalism in polls

Sunday, 26 May 2019 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Claiming that it was a victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and nationalism in the Lok Sabha elections, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that when the Opposition was busy counting bodies after the airstrike, the country stood behind the Prime Minister.

Talking to media persons here on Saturday, Chouhan said that jatiwad, panthwad, rajtantrawad and goondawad (casteism, nepotism, rein of royals and goonism) came to an end collectively in the elections.

He stated that the SP and BSP alliance did not work in the UP and similarly, a caste and family based party RJD in Bihar could not win a single seat.

It was a win of Modivaad (Modism) which means ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’, claimed the former Chief Minister who said he himself expected maximum 50 seats in UP for the BJP while party president Amit Shah had calculated that the party would win 61 to 68 seats.

I was sceptical on this figure so as we thought when ‘Amit Shah Bhai’ used to predict about BJP forming government in states like Assam and Tripura. He also called Amit Shah modern day Chakankya for having guided the BJP to a historical.

The opposition, Chouhan said, kept focussing on PM Modi pushing besides critical issues. “A slogan like chowkidar chor hai triggered a passion among the public to make Narendra Modi Prime Minister once again.”

It was high time the opposition introspects that party like Congress can’t sustain relying on a family all the time, casteist parties can’t solely bank on the caste and leaders like Mamata Banerjee can’t save their party by pushing the state into violence, opined Chouhan.

Chouhan also trained his guns on Kamal Nath Government saying he had cautioned him on issues such as 83 promises fulfilled and farm loan waiver but they did not listen to him. He also accused Congress of complicating farm loan waiver scheme.
