Director General of Police (DGP) DM Awasthi gave instructions to Inspector General (IG) Sarguja to immediately probe the complaint against SHO Chandaura in Surajpur district, who is accused of extorting truck drivers, a DIPR release said on Tuesday.
Prima facie the complaint was found to be true by IG Sarguja. Hence, SHO Chandaura Raghubeer Singh Thakur has been suspended with immediate effect. It is noteworthy that DGP Awasthi had given clear instructions in the SHO Conference of the state held on June 13 that illegal recovery by police officials-employees would not be tolerated at any cost and any official-employee indulged in corrupt activities will be subjected to strict disciplinary action.
DGP DM Awasthi has constituted State Vigilance Cell, led by DIG SC Dwivedi, at Police Headquarters for investigation of corruption-related cases of police officials-employees. Under this, immediate action will be taken on complaints related to indulgence of police officials-employees in corruption, illegal recovery and other criminal activities.
