The press conference conducted in Rajiv Bhawan on Monday was a rare show of unity among the warring factions of the Congress party. In the PC, the PCC President Pritam Singh, former PCC President Kishore Upadhyaya and Deputy leader of party in state assembly, Karan Mahra took part. All these leaders said that the party stands united behind former CM Harish Rawat.
The show of unity assumes significance in the wake of ensuing Panchayat elections and by election of Pithoragarh assembly constituency. The state unit of state Congress party is sharply divided into factions led by Harish Rawat, Pritam Singh and Kishore Upadhyaya. In the PC both Pritam and Upadhyaya were present while Harish Rawat camp was represented by Karan Mahra.
