SJVN awards scholarships to students of Himachal

Himachal Pradesh Governor Bandaru Dattatraya on Friday awarded Merit Scholarships to 87 students of the state in the presence of Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, and other offiicials of SJVN.

SJVN under its CSR initiative - ‘SJVN Silver Jubilee Merit Scholarship Scheme’ has awarded scholarships to meritorious students of class 12th for academic session 2018-19, from the states of its operations.

The Governor said that SJVNL was not only a reputed company in the power sector but also working towards its social responsibility obligations, adding that scholarship function was a unique and inspiring initiative in the field of education taken by the company.

Stressing on modernization while preserving cultural values and heritage, Dattatraya said that India has a name in the world in computer science and digitization. Now, there was a need for development in the medical and agricultural sectors also. He expressed happiness that besides education sector the corporation was helping the local students, farmers and people in skill development.

CMD of SJVNL,  Nand Lal Sharma in 2012, the SJVN Foundation launched Silver Jubilee Merit Scholarship Scheme to inculcate competitive spirit among students and assist them in pursuing higher studies in different streams. He said that these meritorious students of class 12th were being selected from CBSE, ICSE and State Education Board schools from the states of SJVN’s operations. These selected students were awarded a scholarship of Rs. 2,000 per month till completion of their course. He said till date SJVN has awarded 1537 merit scholarships under this scheme.
