The Samajwadi Party will stage dharnas at all district and tehsil headquarters on Monday to protest registration of 80 cases against party MP from Rampur, Mohammad Azam Khan, the deteriorating law and order and economic slowdown.
The SP has already announced to hold a meeting near Gandhi statue at GPO Park in Hazratganj on October 2, where partymen would sing Ram dhun and ‘bhajans’ dear to Mahatma Gandhi.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav will also participate in the meeting. Similar programmes will also be organised at district headquarters across the state.
The Samajwadi Party has also announced to boycott the special session of UP Assembly on October 2 on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said in Lucknow on Monday that the dharnas were being organised to “wake up the deaf and dumb Yogi Adityanath government”.
He said that party cadre would hand over a memorandum to officials in each district highlighting the plight of flood-ravaged people. He said that the party was compelled to take an agitational path on October 1 as previous protests staged by SP were ignored by the Yogi government and no follow-up action was taken on August 9.
