Food Minister Bhagat in a review meeting of food and civil supplies department on Monday instructed the officials to take stern action against the illegal transportation of paddy into Chhattisgarh from neighbouring states.
Official source informed that in the meeting, he instructed the concerned officials to check the illegal transportation of paddy by middlemen and took information about the availability of gunny bags at procurement centres.
He instructed in the meeting to form special squads to check the arrival of paddy from neighbouring states. The squad must consist of officials from departments of revenue, forest, food, cooperative, transport and Mandi board, he stressed.
The districts situated at state borders namely Mahasamund, Gariaband, Raigarh, Jashpur, Balrampur, Koria, Rajnandgaon and Kawardha need to be alert on the matter, he said.
It is the duty of state government to provide more and more benefit to state farmers, he said.
Regarding public distribution system, the minister took district-wise information about storage facilities at fair price shops and its distribution.
