STA to start counselling drive for roadways staff

Friday, 19 July 2019 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Taking cognisance of the recent cases of misbehaviour with passengers and drunk driving by drivers of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC), the State Transport Authority (STA) is going to start a drive for the employees.

According to official sources STA is also planning to start a command control centre, which can directly contact the driver or the conductor and provide counselling in any situation. Additional Transport Commissioner (ATC) Sunita Singh said, “We are going to conduct a drive and address the scenarios that have occurred in the past few months.

Also, department representatives will speak with the employees to know about the issues that they are facing on daily basis.” She added, “To ensure that such cases do not happen again and to minimise the response time in case of any mishap the department is planning to install GPS and panic buttons in our buses.  That way it will be easier to locate the bus and ensure the safety and security of the passengers even in remote areas.”

According to sources, the command control centre will have experts to speak with the driver or the conductor in any situation. They will be able to guide and counsel the employees and also alert the emergency services about any mishap.
