State’s maiden Global Skill Summit today

In a bid to provide a global platform for the job-creators and the policy-makers in the Government and private sector, and to celebrate the skilling and placements of skilled youths, Government of Jharkhand’s first ever Global Skill Summit will be organised here at Mega Sports Complex, Khelgaon near Capital city on Thursday.

Chief Guest, Governor Droupadi Murmu, Chief Minister, Raghubar Das, Union Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, alongwith other eminent guests, will grace the occasion where 15000 youths will symbolically be given employment certificates. With the event the Government is also set to complete its target of providing employment to one lakh youths of the State by January 12, 2019.

Notably, the task of providing employment to the youths was divided among various Government departments including higher education, technical education, skill development, rural development, urban development and others. The target has been achieved, said department officials.

Diplomats and representatives from as many as 17 nations including Tunisia, Mauritius, Panama, Serbia, Bulgaria, Madagascar, Korea and others will participate in the summit. Also, 15 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) would be signed with various national and international companies working in skill sector including ITE Singapore, UK Skills Ltd, Festo, Schneider Electric Indian Institute of Welding and more.

“During the Momentum Jharkhand summit in 2018 about 26,000 job offers were given to skill youths from the State in private sectors which created a benchmark in the skill eco system of the country. The Global Skill Summit 2019 will acknowledge the fact how the State has given over 1,00,000 jobs to its skilled youths,” said CEO, JSDMS, Amar Jha.

MD of JSDMS, Ravi Ranjan, added that on account of State’s focus on skilling, accolades were received by Government of Jharkhand from various quarters and succeeded its inclusion in ‘Limca Book of Records’ highest number of placement offers to its youth in a single day.

The mega event will comprise the main function in the first half of the day and two technical seminars in the later half. Also an exhibition will be organized at the venue where skill providers and recruiters will put up 30 different stalls for the youth. The topics on technical seminars would be though leadership for scale, speed and innovation for future skill readiness and integrating formal education in skill system.

 The programme will be attended by the youths, who are currently being trained under the skill development mission and around 1500 women from self help groups from across the State.

Officials informed that celebrities including renowned cricket commentator Charu Sharma and TV actor and anchor Rohit Roy apart from Sandeep Kochar, new age astrologer and motivational speaker and bollywood actress Mahima Choudharywill participate in the event.

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), is the industry partner in the summit.
