A delegation of more than a hundred Congress leaders and workers led by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Niranjan Patnaik is scheduled to visit New Delhi on August 22 for attending a meeting of the AICC.
Notably, this will be the first meeting between the AICC and PCC leaders after Sonia Gandhi took charge as the interim president of AICC recently.
“Sonia Gandhi has called for a meeting of the party workers to discuss strategies for strengthening the party’s position. We will also chalk out a plan for the 2024 elections” said party MLA Suresh Kumar Routray here on Tuesday.
MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati said, “We have to strengthen the party’s base at the grassroots level. Changing the PCC leadership will not solve the problem. We will request the AICC not to change the State leadership ahead of the civic body polls.
Niranjan Patnaik has worked hard to unite the party workers.”
MLA Mohammed Moquim said, “The meeting will be held on the sidelines of the Rajiv Gandhi birth anniversary celebration. Various issues like strengthening of the party’s base for the upcoming elections will be discussed.”
