The Chhattisgarh government has raised objection to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the killing of BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi in a Maoist attack and urged the Centre to reconsider its decision to hand over the investigation to the central agency.
It said let the state government execute the judicial probe into the incident.
Notable, the Union home ministry without any recommendation from the state has declared the NIA probe into the matter. On the other hand, the state government had already announced a judicial probe headed by a retired high court Chief Justice into the incident.
The NIA has already registered cases under various relevant sections though the state government till now has not submitted any document related to Mandavi killing to it.
Mandavi, the lone BJP MLA from Dantewada assembly constituency of the Bastar region was killed, along with four policemen, when an improvised explosive device (IED) blew up their vehicle near Shyamgiri village in Dantewada on April 9 this year.
