State students shine in CBSE Class XII exams

With 98 per cent marks, Akshat Agarwal of DAV Public School Hazaribag became the State topper in science stream of CBSE class 12 board examinations with a total of 490 marks.

Talking about his future plans, son of a businessman and a homemaker, Akshat said, “I scored 97 percentile in JEE Mains. After completing my engineering, I plan to appear for civil services examination.”

The result for CBSE class 12 boards was declared on Thursday, which came as a surprise for the students as there were speculations of the result being declared not before the second week of May.

Tanish Bansal, a student of Holy Cross School, Bokaro became the topper in commerce stream with a total of 489 marks or 97.8 per cent while Neekita Sinha of DAV Public School, Bokaro Steel City, became arts topper with 488 marks and 97.6 percent.

Jharkhand comes under Patna zone of CBSE, in which a total of 1,26,612 students from 747 schools registered for the examination, 1,00,698 appeared and 67,194 passed, making the overall pass percentage 66.73 percent. Of these, 61.57 percent boys and 76.08 percent girls passed the examination.

In Ranchi city, the topper in science stream was Jarubii Akanksha of Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali, who scored 488 marks. The arts topper was Shristhi Surbhi of JVM Shyamali with 96.8 per cent marks while Jhanvi Modi of Delhi Public School, Ranchi became the commerce topper in city with 97 percent marks.

She said, "I want to pursue my higher education in economics and then get into the corporate sector."

Meanwhile, students of Jamshedpur came out with flying colours with Harshit Agarwal from DAV Public School, Bistupur becoming city topper in science with 485 marks.

"I am really happy with my result and I give my teachers and especially my sister who helped me achieve this. Now my next target is to crack JEE Advanced," said Harshit.

In Jamshedpur around 4,000 students had appeared for the Class XII examinations from 12 steel city schools and neighbouring areas.

"We are very happy with the performance of our students. As it is there was much hue and cry about moderation policy this year but I am happy about the overall results this year as it was expected," said an official of Vidya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya.

Revealing his success formula, Harshit said that study on a regular basis and work regularly, for that helps ease the pressure as the exams approach.

Meanwhile, students of Delhi Public School Ranchi performed exceptionally well with 44 percent of the total students who appeared in the examination scoring 90 percent and above. Also, 52 students of the school scored 100% marks in different subjects.

In DAV Kapildev, out of the total 328 students who appeared in the examination from science stream, 327 passed while 41 per cent scored 90 per cent and above marks. Also, 223 students scored distinction while 320 scored first division marks.  Similarly, 162 out of 163 appearing in commerce passed and 25 students received 90 per cent marks or more.

Principal of the school MK Sinha said, “Congratulations to all the students, parents and teachers for the excellent result. I would advise the students to select their careers as per their interest and try to excel in it.”
