Sting CD FIR: Effigy of Union Government burnt by Youth Congress

Friday, 25 October 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

The workers of Youth Congress burned the effigy of Union Government for what it called deliberate harassment of former Chief Minister Harish Rawat in the sting CD case. On the day, the Youth Congress activists assembled at the Rajiv Bhawan and marched to the Astley Hall intersection. Here, the workers were engaged in vehement slogan shouting against the State and Union Government.

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Pritam Singh who made it a point to attend the protest organised by the Youth Congress said that the Narendra Modi Government is hell bent to silence the voice of Congress party but it would not succeed in this endeavour.

He said that the case has been registered by the CBI against Harish Rawat for an act which actually never happened. Singh said that the Union Government is using the central agencies to harass the Congress leader.

The Congress President said that the party stands firmly behind Harish Rawat and warned that the Congress workers would fill all the jails of the state if the former CM is arrested by the CBI. The Congress leaders and workers then consigned to flames an effigy of the Union Government.

The vice president of the state Congress, Surya Kant Dhasmana, former MLA Rajkumar, State spokesperson Garima Dassauni, Puran Singh Rawat, Naveen Payal, Amarjeet Singh, Vikas Negi, Lal Chand Sharma, Kamlesh Raman, Mahesh Joshi and large number of Youth Congress workers attended the protest.
