Stress on Math, Science, English edu

In view of poor performance of school students in English, Mathematics and Science, the State Government has decided to increase the duration of the classes for the three subjects.

Informing this to reporters here on Tuesday, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said that it has been decided to extend class duration of English, Mathematics and Science subjects from the existing 45 minutes to one and a half hours.

To improve English skills of the students, special classes would be held at one school in every district in the first phase. Later, the special English classes would be held at the block level, the Minister said, adding that it is felt that students should i8mprove their knowledge in English from the primary level.
