The functioning of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) got affected on Thursday due to the strike of contractual workers. These workers assembled in the hospital in the morning where they held a vehement protest.
The hospital at present has 57 contractual workers out of whom contract of 32 has not been renewed.
The agitated workers said that they have not received salaries from last six months due to which they are facing many hardships.
One worker said that the contractual workers have pleaded many times before the senior officials in the past but nothing has happened due to which they are forced to strike. He said that the officials are also misguiding the chief minister of the state on the issue.
In the protest, laboratory technicians, radiology technicians, staff nurses, Operation Theatre (OT) workers, Medical Social workers, library staff, speech therapist, audio visual technicians and lab technicians engaged in ELISA test for dengue. The strike affected general functioning of the biggest Government hospital of the State.
