Under Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation Programme (SVEEP) undertaken in Raipur district, students of Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication on Thursday took pledge to cast their vote and motivate others to do so to ensure cent percent voting in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
SVEEP team members informed that similar programmes are being organised at different colleges across Raipur district.
SVEEP programme officer Ashish Mishra, addressing students, stressed on the need to remain alert and aware. He appealed to them to cast their vote without fail.
One of the speakers Chunnilal Sharma said, “Media students are future journalists, so they have greater responsibility towards the nation. All can become part of ‘change’ by casting vote. It will help further strengthen democracy in the country. Everyone should link with ‘Millennium e-Chain’ programme to spread the message.”
Positive India Drive head Purushottam Mishra emphasised on the importance and need to cast the vote. He encouraged the students to express their views. The students were asked to come up with innovative ideas and participate in the SVEEP state-wide competition.
Head of department, Mass Communication and social work Dr Shahid Ali said the biggest link of democracy is the voter. Voter can strengthen the country by selecting right candidate to lead them.
