Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Kamleshwar Patel, has said that subjects related to children will be compulsorily added to the Gram Panchayat-Vikas Yojana (GPDP). Patel gave this information today in a workshop by UNICEF and Samarthan Sanstha on making Gram Vikas Yojana child-friendly.
Minister Patel said that for the systematic development of villages, an annual “Gram Panchayat Development Scheme” of each gram-panchayat is prepared. Important topics such as education related to children, educational facilities, sanitation, malnutrition, child labour, child marriage will be added to this development plan.
He said that the state government is also making efforts to improve the quality of education system through various schemes.
He also held detailed discussion with the children and public representatives of Mandla, Khargone, Barwani districts who participated in the workshop.
State Head of UNICEF Michael Zuma said that the main objective of UNICEF is to make better environment available for children of the rural areas of the State.
He said that the participation of children in the form of the next generation is a must in village development. He suggested that Bal Manch and Bal Sangathans can be constituted in schools.
Commissioner Panchayat Raj Shri Sandeep Yadav besides representatives of UNICEF and Samarthan Sanstha, Panchayat representatives of rural areas and children were present in the workshop.
