Bharatiya Janata Party national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi was on Wednesday declared elected to the Rajya Sabha, in the bypoll to fill the vacancy following the death of former Union minister Arun Jaitley.
Trivedi has been elected unopposed. He was handed over the certificate of election after the expiry of the time for withdrawal of papers on Wednesday.
The BJP leader, a PhD in mechanical engineering, has been working for the party for a long time. He was part of a 4-member committee responsible for the campaign in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
The Rajya Sabha term of Jaitley, who passed away on August 24, was to end on April 2, 2024.
