Supplementary Budget of Rs 2,534 cr tabled in House

To fulfill its monetary obligations, the Uttarakhand government brought up a supplementary budget of Rs 2533.90 crore in the Assembly for the remaining period of the current financial year. The state government had presented a budget of Rs 48663.90 crore for the financial year 2019-20 in state Assembly in February this year.

The supplementary budget was tabled in the house by the Parliamentary Affairs minister Madan Kaushik on Thursday afternoon. In the supplementary budget, a provision of Rs 1606.33 crore is made under revenue head while Rs 927.56 crore provision is made under capital head.

An additional provision of Rs 166.65 crore under salary and Rs 37.18 crore under pension heads is made in the document. There is also provision of Rs 848.11 crore under centrally aided schemes in addition to provision of Rs 70 crore for World Bank assisted rural drinking water scheme.

For construction of jails and land purchase for them, Rs 10 crore has been earmarked in the budget. For government degree colleges, a provision of Rs 40 crore is made while Rs  107.41 crore have been set aside for Right to Education (RTE).

The Government made a budgetary provision of Rs 1.76 crore for the construction of Uttarakhand Residential School at Jaiharikhal in Pauri district. In the supplementary budget presented on the day, a provision of Rs 40 crore is made for construction of buildings for Government colleges under RUSA.

 Similarly, Rs five crore each is earmarked for construction of the Base Hospital in Pithoragarh and Base hospital in Rudrapur. A sum of Rs 5.50 crore has been provided under National Urban Health Mission (NRHM) and Rs 25 crore is provided for Smart City mission. For Kumbh Mela, a provision of Rs 100 crore is made in supplementary budget while Rs 30 crore is sought for old age pension. For Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Rural areas a sum of Rs 75 crore has been set aside in the budget. For Jamrani Dam project, a Rs 50 crore is made while a similar sum is provided for maintenance of roads to PWD.
