Chhattisgarh assembly on Friday passed the present government’s first supplementary budget of Rs 4341.52 crore by voice vote.
The total budget was of Rs 95,899.45 crore with supplementary budget it has increased to Rs 100,241 crore for the year 2019-20.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also tabled on the monsoon session of the assembly the performance budget for the year 2018-2019 and the quarterly income-expense review for the same year.
Baghel replying to the discussion said loans had been taken to waive off the agricultural loans of farmers.
The CAG in March 2019 had pointed about revenue excess of Rs 677 crore, he said adding there was no financial crisis looming over the state. Even after curtailment of central assistance, the state earned an additional revenue Rs 16,346 crore from various sources, Baghel pointed out.
The government had released payment of Rs 19801 crore from April to June 2019 against Rs 16346 crore in the same period in 2018. He added as per RBI, Chhattisgarh was spending 17.9 % of its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in developmental works as against the average spending of 11.9% by other states. The loan load on GSDP was 17.4% against the average of 24.3% in other states.
