Complying to the directives of Urban Development and Housing Minister Jaivardhan Singh, Commissioner Urban Development P Narhari reviewed the supply of drinking water of Bhopal Municipal Corporation. He instructed that sufficient drinking water supply will be ensured in this regard to stop the leakage of water, resolve problems coming in the call centre promptly and supply water through tankers as per requirement. Narhari said that if there is shortage of funds for the transportation of drinking water send demand immediately. He said that citizens should not face drinking water problem in any condition.
Municipal Commissioner Vijay Datta informed in the meeting that water is supplied in Bhopal from Narmada, Kolar, Kerwa dam and Upper Lake. Generally 30 million gallons of water is taken from the Upper Lake daily but due to less water left in the lake, only 19-20 million gallon water is being taken daily. The remaining water is being taken from Narmada and Kolar dam. The Municipal Commissioner said that the water level in the Upper Lake at present is 1650.80 feet. He said that there will be no problem in water supply in Bhopal city till the 28th of June. For water supply in the crisis-hit areas, 70 Municipal Corporation tankers and 29 private tankers have been deployed. On people’s demand, the tankers immediately supply drinking water.
