The State House Committee on Computerisation visited Delhi, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh from August 20 to 24 to study the e-Vidhan application under the chairmanship of Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro.
Committee members Leader of Opposition Pradipta Kumar Naik, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tusharkanti Behera, Government Chief Whip Pramila Mallick and MLAs Tara Prasad Bahinipati and Subash Chandra Panigrahi and OLA Secretary Dasarathy Satapathy also went on the tour.
On Saturday, Patro had a courtesy meet with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Patro presented a memento of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra Devi Subhadra to him. Delighted Birla kept the memento in his office chamber so that the visitors can have a glimpse of the deities. During a half hour discussion, Patro invited Birla to visit Odisha and the latter agreed to the proposal.
Birla praised the Odisha Assembly’s initiative to implement National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) in line with the e-Assembly of Himachal Pradesh. Further Birla said that he would send a team of officers to Odisha to appraise the Ministers and MLAs regarding rules and procedures of the Assembly and the Parliament.
