CPI General Secretary D Raja on Saturday said that all secular parties should come together to defeat BJP in Lok Sabha elections. He added that while talks are on among the opposition parties on seat sharing and electoral strategies, alliances could be formed based on local situations.

Raja was speaking to media persons after meeting RJD supremo Lalu Prasad at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences.

“Even though Lalu’s health was main issue of my visit, we also discussed political situation at national level.  Both of us were of the view that situation of country was scary. There is increasing attacks on right of citizens at the same time the country’s economy is in bad shape. The farmers, workers and other sections of society have been agitating against the government. The youths are also restless,” Raja said.

The CPI leader said Lalu was an outstanding fighter against communal forces. He added the RJD leader is same old fighter when it comes to facing the multiple ailments he is suffering from. He is in good spirit, he added.

Asked about opposition’s rally organised by Trinamool Congress in Kolkatta Raja said adding the left parties would organize a rally in Kolkatta on February 3.

Among the visitors were former union minister and currently national president of RJD women’s wing Kanti Singh and son of Bihar’s former CM Jiten Ram Manjhi, Santosh Manjhi. Kanti Singh stated that politics was not discussed during the meeting adding Lalu was suffering from several illnesses at present.

She said the united opposition would defeat the ‘fascist’ BJP in the elections. She pointed out that BJP could not list even three big achievements during PM Narendra Modi tenure. She said demonetisation failed to bring back the black money adding instead the decision rendered lakhs of people unemployed. She also explicitly expressed her inclination to fight the Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile Dr DK Jha of RIMS said even though Lalu is suffering from several diseases his condition was stable at present. He said the RJD leader is undergoing physiotherapy for arthritis.
