Tech savvy siblings rewarded for tracking snatcher

nThe mobile tracker installed on phone helped the duo, brother and sister trace, chase and apprehend two snatchers within two hours, who had snatched their phone in South East Delhi. The Delhi Police gave a reward of Rs 2,500 each and a certificate to the brother and sister for their job.

The two snatchers have been identified as Nitin (24), a resident of   Lajpat Nagar and Ramjani (20), a resident of Faridabad.

According to Chinmoy Biswal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South East district, on September 11 at 8 pm, the 24 year-old complainant Chanda Kumari, who works as a teacher in a Private School at Noida was going to her school on her scooty from her home in Jaitpur area.

"When she reached near Okhla barrage, three persons on a Pulsar bike came from rear side and snatched her bag

containing cash and mobile phone. During snatching, victim lost the balance of her scooty and fell down. In the meantime, accused persons fled towards Noida side," said the DCP.

"Thereafter, victim took the phone of a passerby and called her brother, Prabhat Ranjan.

They snatched mobile phone of the victim had mobile tracker installed in it and on checking they located the mobile phone near Khadda Colony, Jaitpur.

Afterwards, victim alongwith her brother went to Khadda Colony and alleged three snatchers were seen standing with their pulsar bike," said the DCP.

"On seeing the victim, two snatchers managed to flee. However, one snatcher Nitin was successfully apprehended by the victim and her brother. On search of the snatcher, mobile phone of the victim was recovered from his possession. Thereafter, victim made a police complaint and handed over the snatcher to the police. Subsequently, a case under section 342/19, U/S 379/356/411/34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Kalindi Kunj Police Station," said the DCP.

"On instance of the accused, his accomplices  Ramjani was arrested on the same day. Police teams are conducting raids to nab the third accused identified as Bandi," said the DCP.

"During interrogation, the accused revealed that in order to earn quick money they started snatchings.

The accused Nitin was earlier arrested in eight cases of snatching and is a 'history sheeter 'of Lajpat Nagar police station," said the DCP adding that further investigation is going on.
